Air fryer buying guide

Air fryers cook with fast-moving hot air, which gives crisp food with much less oil than deep frying. Capacity is the first decision: a couple needs far less space than a family of five.

Dual basket models let you cook two different foods at the same time, and many have a sync mode so both finish together. That is a big time saver for family dinners.

A countertop appliance also keeps your kitchen cooler than a full-size oven in summer. Leave a few centimetres of clear space around the vents while it runs.

Quick checklist before you buy:

• Capacity for your household size
• Dual or single basket
• Dishwasher-safe parts
• Footprint on your counter

Care and maintenance for the COSORI 2 Chamber Dual Zone Air Fryer

Let the unit cool, then wash the basket and drawer with warm soapy water or in the dishwasher if the accessories allow it. Wipe the heating area regularly so grease does not bake on. Do not overfill, because food crisps best with room for air to flow.

Things to consider

• Larger models need more counter space and a clear area around the vents
• Cooking times differ from a conventional oven, so check early
• Avoid overloading the baskets
• Check which parts are dishwasher-safe before buying
